Terms of Service
1. What Vouch is
Vouch lets a business run a referral program without building one. The business sets a ladder of rewards. Its existing customers get a personal link to share. When someone they referred becomes a paying customer and the business confirms the job closed, the referring customer earns the next reward on the ladder.
Three kinds of people use Vouch, and some terms below apply to only one of them:
- Businesses set up a program, confirm closed jobs and honor rewards.
- Advocates are a business’s customers who share their own link and earn rewards.
- Referred customers register through an advocate’s link to become a customer of that business.
2. Accounts and sign-in
Vouch has no passwords. You sign in with a one-time code emailed to you. Keep control of that inbox: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Tell us at support@vouchreferrals.com if you think your account has been used without your permission.
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract to use Vouch. If you act for a business, you confirm you are allowed to bind it to these terms.
3. Businesses
If you run a program on Vouch, you agree that:
- You decide the rewards and you are the one who honors them. Vouch does not pay rewards and is not a party to any reward between you and your customer.
- You only add customers who have done business with you and whom you may lawfully contact. Vouch sends them a one-time invitation email on your behalf and honors any unsubscribe.
- When you connect an invoicing or job platform, you authorize Vouch to read the data needed to match customers and detect closed jobs, and to write a discount onto an invoice when you confirm a reward. You can revoke that access at any time from the platform's own settings, or ask us to remove the connection.
- The platforms you connect have their own terms. Vouch is not responsible for their availability or for how they process your data.
- You confirm closed jobs honestly. Confirming a job that did not close, or refusing to confirm one that did, is a dispute between you and your customer, and the record Vouch keeps may be shared with both of you.
- Your business name, services, areas served, logo and ladder appear on your public Vouch page and in the marketplace while your program is active.
4. Rewards
Rewards are defined by the business. They are a percentage or fixed amount off a future invoice, a free service up to a stated value, or a cash amount the business pays its customer directly. Every reward:
- belongs to the advocate who earned it and cannot be transferred, sold or combined;
- can be used once, on one invoice or one payment;
- expires on the date shown with it;
- has no cash value except where the business chose a cash reward, and then the business pays it.
Vouch never holds, collects or transmits money. A discount is written into the business’s own invoicing system, and a cash reward is paid by the business through its own means. Vouch keeps the record of what was earned, applied and paid.
Vouch may void a reward that was earned through fraud, self-referral, fake customers or any breach of these terms.
5. Advocates
If you refer people through Vouch, you agree that:
- You share your link yourself, in your own words, with people you know. Vouch never contacts the people you refer by text, and you must not send unsolicited messages on Vouch's behalf.
- You tell the people you refer that you may receive a reward if they become a customer. This is required by the Federal Trade Commission's endorsement rules, and it is also the honest thing to do.
- You do not refer yourself, your own household at the same address, or made-up customers.
- A reward is yours to use with the business that offered it. Whether and how a cash reward is reported for tax purposes is between you and that business.
6. Referred customers
When you register through an advocate’s link, you give your name and an email address or phone number to Vouch and to the business you chose, so the business can recognise you as a referred customer. If the business offers a welcome discount, those details also go to the business’s invoicing platform so the discount can be attached to you. Vouch does not call or text you. The business may contact you the way it contacts any new customer, under its own practices. Any welcome offer shown on the link is the business’s offer, not Vouch’s.
7. Messages from Vouch
Vouch emails the people who signed up: a sign-in code when you ask for one, and a one-time invitation when a business adds you. The invitation has an unsubscribe link. Vouch does not send text messages.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use Vouch for anything unlawful, deceptive or harmful;
- upload customer data you do not have the right to use;
- try to access another business's program, another person's rewards, or Vouch's systems in ways not intended;
- copy, scrape or resell Vouch or the marketplace;
- interfere with the service or other people's use of it.
9. Your content
You keep ownership of what you put into Vouch: your business details, logo and customer lists. You give Vouch permission to store, display and process that content to run the service, including showing a business’s public details in the marketplace. Vouch does not sell your content.
10. Fees
Vouch is free to use during its pilot. If that changes, we will tell account holders by email at least 30 days before any charge applies, and nothing you earned before then is affected.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Vouch at any time and ask us to delete your account at support@vouchreferrals.com. A business that ends its program should still honor rewards already earned. Vouch may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or puts other people at risk.
12. Disclaimers
Vouch is provided as is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every closed job will be detected, or that every discount will land on the right invoice. Unless a business has turned on automatic application, it confirms each reward before it is applied for exactly that reason. Vouch is not responsible for the services a business provides or for a business’s decision to honor or dispute a reward.
13. Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, Vouch and the people who run it are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, lost profits or lost business arising from your use of Vouch. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid Vouch in the twelve months before the claim and one hundred US dollars. Some states do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top changes when we do, and we will email account holders about material changes before they take effect. Using Vouch after a change means you accept the updated terms.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If we have a disagreement, write to support@vouchreferrals.com first and we will try to sort it out informally within 30 days. Any claim that cannot be resolved that way will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and Vouch both consent to that venue.
